First of all your order is all wrong. Ely does not have the best band in broward and they know that because they admitted that Stranahan Blew them out at the game. And MIramar is definitely not better than Hallandale because at the Miramar day parade Hallandale be embarrassing Miramar at their own parade. First Dillard yall talk to much instead of talking bring it! I Don't Know What the Hi-Tides are talkin about but Stranahan has the best arrangement of NECK. Hi tides, i have heard that yall is a good band but many people don't even know yall and you guys are talkin bad about bands that have good reputations(Stranahan,Dillard). Miramar came real this year. They Dancers was on point, with some real technique, gettin low like some 14kt. dancers, but the rest of they auxiallry need some work, but as a whole they was real good and clean. Carol City was a mess this year doing the same stuff like always. I wanna see Miramar and Carol City battle, and we can really see who the real band is. Miramar thumbs up!!!!!!

To the bands out there who we're straight about us (ely) showing up and doing our thing I truly appreciate you doing your thing and being the bigger person and lettin us know you ain't on that hater junk. Miami Beach and the Northwestern are marked bands. they tore up that battle of the bands. i wish my school, famu, was there to put bcc in they place. congrats to all bands but damn, them young boys runnin the programs at beach and the west are some lethal b-----s. all ya'll old folk need to step down for minute and observe what young boys be about when it comes to they job. one time for my freshman brah's in the 100 and we'll see bcc in the classic.

Miami Beach maybe a "chico" band, but from what I heard and saw no one could match Miami Beach sound. They blew out everyband out there hands down. I attended the 2004 MIAMI SUPER ORIGINAL BATTLEOF THE BANDS, yeasterday, sunday october 17, and i have comprised a list of bands from broward who performed the best to the worst. 1 being the best and 6 being the least greatest marching band. The review is as follows:

1. Stranahan- i give stranahan the top spot because they are the first broward band that i have seen to literally ct up every band in all three county and show up and show out. Their musical selection was awesome, their brass section is very powerful, and their dance routine was better than any other bands that night, even Edward-Waters College. 2. Miramar- i give Miramar High the second spot for broward because they were very creative in their show using army fatigue and representing their country. Their dancers were awesome and on point, their marching skills were great, and their formation were similar to that of a college bands. You know that youre good when you have more than one caucaisin in your band and they can get down as well. I definately now know why some say that Miramar may be the best band in the state. 3. Dillard- Dillard high, the Marching Panthers, earns my number 3 spot. They were just, simply, Dillard. They performed very well, coming way up from what they have been doing these past few weeks at football games, they did well. And as usuall their dancers were awesome. 4. Boyd Anderson- In number 4 is Boyd Anderson. This spot goes to boyd anderson which is well deserved for them. I beleive that BA was the smallest high school band there and they still did a great job. Their dancers were good too, coming a long way from last year. 13 dancers instead of 14 is not wise though, lets try to get that one girl back on the field next time! BA's sound was great for their size, but the thing that gets me is how they played scooby doo last year and they played it again this year. but all in all they did their thang! 5. Deerfield Beach- Deerfield Beach earns my number five spot. Deerfield did an ok job at the BOTB but I expected much much more from them. This was not one of their best performances as i have seen them in weeks prior to where they have performed much better. But i must give them their props for this only beng their second year being a show style band! Thier trombone section was great, but their trumpet section was a little too weak, having only one first trumpet! they had 6 sousaphones which is nice but they need better amplification. Their selection of music was great as they didnt play what every other band at the BOTB played such as Nuk if u buk, and that clap song. Instead they chose other music. As far as the flags go, theres basically no section there and there were no dancers. The dance routine was very creative. But all in all, hats off to deefield, as they did last night with their new sweat suits and hats! 6. Blanche Ely-And finally, number 6 goes to they marching tigers, the tropical storm, and the Emeral Ice! Number 6 being the LEAST greatest in broward. Pros: Ely has done a great job this past season being with their new band director. thier size has come up and thier band has a strong sound for a beginning band. In all pervious games Ely has worn either their band shirts or white t's to prove a point to the county that they are in a rush for their new uniforms. But last night they wore their old band unifroms, which made them look really nice. Their entrance onto the field is very nice as well. Cons: Ely has a lot of work to do when it comes to them being such a big band as they are! Having such a big band, there are many mistakes to be osught. First, they changed the beginning of their drill and how they made the big X on the field, which was nice, but in the front the members were not spaced properly, throught the show members were telling each other where to go and were spacing while they were supposes to be stagnant, and one membe even didnt have his pants on properly and they were falling off! Ely played their famed stand song, Eye of the Tiger. I find it ridiculous that they play this song on the field because they play it so ofewten in the stands, and it seems as though its the only song that they know how to play. The Emerald Ice didnt go in front and do a dance by themselve this time, which is definately a con becuase the Emeral Ice are one of the best dance sections in broward. Lastly, 6 goes to ely because in a way it made mr. beckford, elys band director, look bad when Miami Carol City showed out last night. It made it seem as though he left a great program. But i give kudos for Beckford bringin up ely, but just next time dont lie to your students and tell them that they came in 3rd at the BOTB because thet didn't!

Conclusion: In conclusion, i think all bands did their thing and did a great job. All the bands practiced countless hours for that one night at the BOTB. Even though for some it may not have been their best, but the BOTB showed what greatness can come from a respected black marching band ensemble. From broward greates to least, our band can outdo any palm beach band, and even some of the miami bands. This has been your daily reviewer B-Tone, signing off!

I have to give my props to Mr. Beckford and his staff for bringing the Ely Marching Band up to what it is today. But you guys need to stop bragging because yall seriously aint at a level to where yall should be bragging! True enough yall got the biggest band in borward, but yall got one of the sloppiest sounds ever! This is not the students fault though, its the instructors fault when he tells all his students to join band a get an automatic A so that you can have a big band. Now dont get me wrong, the idea of creating the Emerald Ice was awesome and i have to give yall the kudos yall deserve on that, and yall flags are ok too. but you guys have a beggining band with a beggining sound. Maybe give it 2 or 3 more years when all yall players have prior experience, then you can start bragging about your sectons! But you know whats, if any band should be given props, its should be the Deerfield High marching Bucks! This band use to be a core band two years ago, and they just recently changed into the show band style last year when the former band director from William Dandy Middle went to Deefield High. Their band director has worked hard to cange their program around to what it is today, and in the end result, i may see a small band, but in my opinion Deerfield has the best marching skills out of all the show bands in broward! they are very clean and crisp, and at the same time they still have class because they are not ghetto and they dont pop all the way through their halftime performances! They also have a great sound for how small they are. They are nly two years in the making and already they are starting to do big things! Kudos to DBHS!

Whats up ya'll....I'm not here to say that my high school where I graduated from c/o 04'...is the best band in broward...I'm just here to set things str-8.....All the bands programs in broward county are Superior...well I take that back....the majority.....but yea anyways....thats great that ya'll have musicians in ya'll band...das wuz up ....cause every band doesn't have musicians in them....but I kinnda get the feeling that you think that Hallandale doesn't have musicians in them...we have members that know all 12 scales also...Minor and Major.....also thats good that ya'll have band members who attend solo and ensemble....and that goes to All County and State....thats real good exposure....but I gotta say this ...umm you say when Hallandale can do all that, that ya'll have done then we can hang with ya'll......UMMM....NOO....now this is were I have to do a lil selling out....ummm hallandale can hang with ya'll...and have left ya'll hanging b4...but anyways back on topic....thats AWESOME that ya'll have honorary sororities and fraternities......but ahhhhh this is not College.....and I'm not saying that it is LAME or anything....is just doesn't say in any rule book that a high school has to have a frat or soro. in it....but just to clear things Hallandale does have SECTIONAL frats and soro's.....believe it or not every band member from Hallandale that has continued their MUSICIANSHIP in a college band has set VERRRYY high SUPERIOR markings at HBCU's like FAMU, NCA&T, B-CC, etc... espically at B-CC...ask some of your graduates from SHS thats up there.....also thats great that you wanna be a rattler......but realize that FAMU will neva eva eva eva eva eva get on Cookman's level...you'll see fall 06'...i'll see too....but I'll be across the field with Cookman.....*snickers* just had to as that in.....but no on a serious tip ...all marching band programs in Broward County keep up the good work......!!!....MORE TO COME..!!!!!!!

First of all I give props to Hallandale,Ely,and B.A. for all comin up in the marching band game,but I must say that Stranahan High School's marching band is a band that is about results. We not only have a great marching band but we have musicians and it takes a real band to have musicians. Any band can rep for their squad but it takes a real band to back it up. It's not about size,it's about sound and for all you hatin bands out their -remember that. We put musicians in All-County,Solo Ensemble,All State. It doesn't matter 60 or 160, Stranahan will always bring the heat because we have the heart,we don't have to bring middle school people in our band to play like Dillard,or join with other bands. So remember all you other bands Stranahan like always is yet again bringin the heat to anyone who wants it 04-05 marching band year. Beware

We are not "big headead" (LaydeeJ178@aol.com), we just have better things to do with our time than to prove to anyone, that not only our band, but our music program is truley the baddest in Broward County. We have true musicians !! We have people that not only can play and dance, but can run all 12 scales. Our band has members (notice that its plural) that has placed 7th chair and higher at All County and All State !! We have numerous players that have recieved Superiors at solo and ensemble. When yall have people in yall band that can do that, and when yall can play full song ARRANGEMENTS then maybe yall could hang with SHS !! You see we are have more to our program than just marching, battling, and dancing !! Let me ask yall a few questions: Do yall have an honorary sorority and fraternity in yall band program ? Stranahan does !!! Has your band traveled out of state and actually wON first place in the battle of the bands ? Stranahan HAS !!!! Most of all yall SO CALLED "tradition" is not really what you think it is. Remeber that yall band director, Mr. Snyder was once at Stranahan !!!

You know one thing about me I am a firm believer in giving props where props are do. To Stranahan I don't have any doubt in my mind that y'all are a good band but at the same time if anyone is big headed its yall. First of all every time someone talks about Hallandale they are quick to mention our size. Well size doesn't mean anything because if that was the case FAMU would always blow Cookman out just because they are bigger. And another thing all y'all always start with us first. Remember five years ago Hallandale didn't even have a band and then soon as we get out there and start winning things everyone wants to jump on our back instead of saying hey Hallandale good job. But anyways its all good because no matter what anyone says we know that we have a good band. Our band director was even chosen as one of the top five band directors in the nation. On the real though every band is good in their own way but half of y'all are just living off a legacy while at Hallandale we are creating ours. Now think about that.

Have you all forgotten about the baddest band in the mid-wset? The Invincible Marching Marauders of Central State University. They've been around for a long time and destroyed lots of bands. I just would like to say that the FAMU marching 100 is the greatest band in the land. They cant be beat! Grambling and nothing compared to them. They got the awards to prove it. Secondly...to the person from hallandale that must be dreaming....Stranahan is way better the Hallandale...why i dont see anyone from Hallandale at ALL state and All county, and even solo and ensamble.
